Easy to cheat, and bad physics

Outside of there being no sound and poor physics, it's really easy to just 'push' the puck over the computer side and into the goal, so no challenge there. One: your circle should be limited to your side of the board. Two, and most important: there should be some decent physics, so that when you hit the puck from the side with your circle, it doesn't just go straight back. Knocking the puck toward the sides of the board is the 3/4 of the strategy of air hockey. And three: there should be a goal slot, not just the whole other end of the board.

This isn't air hockey, it's soundless Pong with worse controllers. Get it together, man. Surely you can do better than this.

Only one Felicia?!

Decent presentation -- nice background images and a good sound loop. This is a nice little reference piece, and could certainly be expanded into different screens. Pleasing, with good ActionScript work.

sorry I could only use the sprites I had

Fun to play

Nice gameplay, decent graphics, and good physics -- overall a pleasant experience! But it really, really could have used a hole map. When you start getting to the levels where you can't see any other part of the course from wherever you are, you can lose three balls just figuring out where the other islands and green are. That's not fun or challenging -- that's just a player screw.

I'd buy that for a dollar!!

This is the most totally playable game I've seen on Newgrounds in months! You did a super job with the Actionscript -- the levels and play worked perfectly -- the sounds were great, and even the puzzle rooms made the game better (instead of more irritating, which is the usual). But coming in at under 500K -- dude, you rock the block. A 24-karat 5 for you!

Your ride needs additional pimpin'

It was a passable start, but it really needs more. You could have done a lot with a little animation -- where are the spinning hubcaps? And why can't I get running boards and an intake snorkel, and have my gatling cannon chromed? And no speakers? This is more like a game engine test -- to make this fly, you need to add the serious bling. I'll wait for v2.

PODmedia responds:

Yeah... Im fixing them now. I spotted them myself after I submitted it.

What an incredible time-waster

And I mean that in the best possible way. This must have taken some serious effort, and it's a real time machine. I'm just as frustrated as I was in 1984, and I fully appreciate it!

Could have been better

It was okay, but I would have liked to have seen more screen shots and examples of what you had done. Also, the black background didn't really help, since you had done most of the linework in black too. But a decent tutorial.

A decent play

It could have used a bit more instructions -- it took me a few deaths to figure out how to gather resources and deposit them at the station, since there's nothing about how to do that anywhere in the game. Nice interaction and fairly fun play, though.

A lot better than its score indicates

Your graphics could use some work and this could really use some dialog sound, but this doesn't deserve the low score some people are giving it. The premise is funny, the timing is good, and the whole thing is a pretty solid piece of work. One suggestion: just use one graphic for the click-on arrows so it's easier to spot -- sometimes it blends in with the background.

This is good work. I think you will only get better, too!

Davisman responds:

Thanks I'll keep that in mind!

I love StarCraft, and this ain't it

You need a higher frame rate; the game doesn't run smoothly -- and no, it's not my computer, it's that you have it running at like 12fps. Add frames to the move cycles and speed up the frame rate.

Some original graphics, music, sounds, and a way to win would be nice. So far, this is point, click, point, click, point, click -- I wanted to at least be able to move my men around. You just have to play 'til you lose.

You have to give people something that's not in StarCraft to make your game good and original. Why would I play this instead of Broodwar? I hope the final one is better. Lots better.

I draw. I vote. I like voting.
