A lot better than its score indicates

Your graphics could use some work and this could really use some dialog sound, but this doesn't deserve the low score some people are giving it. The premise is funny, the timing is good, and the whole thing is a pretty solid piece of work. One suggestion: just use one graphic for the click-on arrows so it's easier to spot -- sometimes it blends in with the background.

This is good work. I think you will only get better, too!

Davisman responds:

Thanks I'll keep that in mind!

Not entertaining

First: Why make a two-player game? Do most people surfing the internet for games do it as a couple? This should have one computer-controlled ship which could be switched to two-player if needed. Second: For two-player controls, one set should be on -one- side of the keyboard, and the other set on the -opposite- side. I'd have thought that would be obvious! Third: The walls are too big, and there's no way to get more ammo. In an actual two-player, it'd be almost impossible to kill your opponent in the amount of time given with the ammo provided. I tried it with the other guy just sitting there, and I barely nailed him -- no bullets left and less than 300 seconds left. Bullets just don't do enough damage.

The only thing worth seeing here is the graphics, which are only okay. Get it together, man.

adzki-y2k4 responds:

Sorry i tried. I don't know how to make a computer controlled player yet. I will make a beta version.

I wondered about that

Very informative! The only other thing I wanted to see was how many points each membership levels required. Good work.

Pilot-Doofy responds:

Those are hard to do because you'd have to update the levels 10 - 30 every day.

Everytime HumanTarget52 deposits exp. points, it widens the gap between the other levels.

But I'm glad you liked it.

Zoidberg's the best

But I wish the sound quality on this had been higher. Some of the phrases are cut off at the end, and a couple are much louder than the others. Also, several have pops and clicks at the end, like you were shutting off a tape recorder. Couldn't those have been edited out while you were translating them to digital? This was a great idea though. I'd like to see an expanded and cleaned-up version. You've barely scraped the surface of Zoidberg's shell!

Terminator responds:

Yeah i noticed it after I had added them into the movie and optimised it. I will update the soundboard once those few small things have been fixed. When updated, I will release Dr. Zoidberg Soundboard v2

An interesting demo

It's an interesting puzzle format, and I liked the animations. I'd like to see the rooms be bigger, and more done with the backgrounds. I'd be cool to see office-like, lobby-like and garden-like rooms, so it seemed like a story. But the gameplay is solid.

I'd like to point out that it's Shift+Arrow to crawl, not Control+Arrow like it says in the game.

TheComet responds:

I'm making it based on a story, havn't made the intro yet.

Could have been better

You should write a simple function to keep it from asking the same questions over and over, because that gets annoying. And you got the math wrong; it doubles the number of wrong answers, so that if you get one question out of 20 wrong it says you got 90 percent right, and if you get four wrong it says you got 60 percent right. Each question should only count for five percent, not ten.

But decent format, okay graphics, good sound. You should have some different random right and wrong graphics too -- that would make it way more interesting.

exfuga responds:

It does add 5 points you dumbass, I know that 5x20 is 100, it adds 5 points for each correct question... moron

Satisfying

It was pretty okay. I'd like to see more, as in: different people to run over, moving at different speeds; some levels, where it gets harder and obstacles (like lampposts or trees or parked cars) increase; and different backgrounds (for the different levels). It wouldn't be hard, considering how you've already got the movement and collision functions up and running.

The music was great, though, and the gradual increase of blood on the hood was a nice touch. Could you do that on the back, too? I like backing over them!

calculon000 responds:

Those are some pretty good ideas for a sequel. You should expect to see them when I make one. :)

Not nearly as bad as most dress-up games

There were a couple of layer problems (like the clown pants being -behind- Pico), but the art on all the characters and clothes were good. I'd like some way to switch the music, or at least turn it off.

But overall, fun to play and good costumes!

Masonogy1 responds:

Thankyou! I had problems on the music area! I am an amature when it comes to actionscript! lol! Sorry about that!

Huh

I kept getting "crash" notices even when my parachute was straight up, my trick was over and he was landing slowly. What's the margin of error? It must be pretty dang narrow.
It know it would be more work, but it would be better if you had to get up to a certain speed (with a speed meter) by tilting your sail down, and that if you tilted it too far you would slow down instead of just stopping like it does now. Also it could use some different sounds for surfing, jumping, and landing.
Hope to see a very cool final version.

breakyaface responds:

ok first of all, IT'S NOT A PARACHUTE. It's a Kite. but the trick is that u have to land with speed like in real life (I do this sport myself), but there is no speedmeter in real life to.
And last when ur kite hits the water u stop, but i'm working on it that u then also crash. For the rest thanx for the comments.

Not bad

An okay game. Could have benefitted a lot from better graphics, some 'levels', and some bangin' music. That applause sound wears thin -real- quick.

If you got better pics and if you had it start slower, and then when your score hit like 30 you got a pause, applause, and switched to a new picture with faster countdown times for another 30 -- THAT would be a really GREAT game.

Bezman responds:

Cheers.

You're definitely right about the sound.

I was actually quite pleased with the graphics, but I suppose - as my friend says - it looks worse because there only is one picture.

I like your idea for various levels. I may well implement something along those lines when I come back to this idea.

I suppose some loop, along with a 'stop music' button would make it better. One thing that put me off is that I don't know how to speed music up, so I though the music would start seeming a bit slow as the game sped up.

Still, when I return to the idea, I'll try to address the issue.

Cheers for a genuinely useful review. :)

Stay funky,
Bez
